This book is for absolute beginners. It describes the theory of relational databases and the various structures of MS Access, without going into too much detail about any one item. This book will not help if you are looking for a "how-to" book.
The Kindle version I downloaded *does NOT have an index, nor is there an efficient way to search for a specific task I want to perform*!!!Without an index I'm wasting a lot of time trying to find basic info, such as how to keep a row that identifies the content of each column visible on screen no matter how far down I'm working.I really can't evaluate the content since I haven't yet found what I need.
I have read most of the book, and it seems to be helpful. Unfortunately, I have not tried to use the information on a database that I have that was developed by someone else, but I need to migrate it to Access 2010.
This book is resource for people who want everything explained from what a database is to a roughly designed database tool. This IS NOT the book for those who have ever regularly used Access before. It will not take you deeply into the tools of Access. If you are not comfortable with database tools, not quick with computer learning, or just starting with little or no knowledge, this is a good book for you (add 3 stars). If you learned how to use excel's tools without help, this is likely not the book for you.
good book
For someone getting started I don't believe this book is detailed enough. There needs to be a better step by step demonstration, using examples to follow, to show how to build databases.
Great beginner book for those smart minded computer whizzes. I actually bought this book for my assistant to get familiar with Access. We currently use Excel but due to our many reports, excel is too manual. So far the book has proven worthy and I am glad I chose it.
